Frequently asked

Roofing questions, answered straight.

No marketing fluff. If your question isn't here, call Jared and ask.

Quoting & pricing

How much does a re-roof cost in Bay of Plenty?

Most BoP re-roofs in 2026 land between $15,000–$35,000 inc GST for a standard home, depending on size, material, pitch and access. Use our instant estimator for a quicker ballpark.

Is the quote free?

Yes. Always. No deposit, no obligation. We come on-site, measure, quote in writing within 48 hours.

Do you charge for travel inside BoP?

No. Anywhere from Katikati to Whakatāne, no travel surcharge.

Can you do a quote from photos?

For a ballpark, yes, send us photos and rough size. For a fixed price we still need to come on-site to measure properly.

Process & timeframes

How long does a re-roof take?

3–5 working days for a standard 150m² home. We work in waterproof stages, so you're never exposed overnight.

How far ahead are you booked?

Usually 2–4 weeks for non-urgent work. Emergency repairs we'll fit in same week.

What if the weather goes bad mid-job?

We always leave the roof in a waterproof state at the end of each day. If rain hits mid-job, we tarp.

Do I need to be home?

Not usually. We just need access to the property. We'll let you know the day's plan before we start.

Council & consents

Do I need council consent to re-roof?

Most like-for-like re-roofs don't need consent. If you're changing profile, material weight (tile → metal), or doing structural work, you might. We'll tell you up front.

Is your work covered by building code?

Yes. As a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) we sign work off under the NZ Building Code (E2, B2 in particular for roofing).

Warranties & products

What warranty do you offer?

5-year workmanship warranty on all installs. Coloursteel materials carry a 10–30 year residential warranty (15 years max commercial), depending on coating and environmental conditions.

Which products do you use?

All NZ Coloursteel, long-run metal, tray profiles, metal cladding, and matched flashings. We'll spec underlay, fixings and accessories to the job.

What colour options are there?

All standard Coloursteel colours, Karaka, FlaxPod, Scoria, Sandstone Grey, Ironsand and more. See the full Coloursteel range.

Insurance & safety

Are you insured?

Yes, public liability and contract works insurance. We're also Site Safe Members and use edge protection / fall arrest on every site.

Can you do insurance work?

Absolutely. We work with all major insurers on storm damage and emergency repair claims. We'll provide written reports and photos.

Maintenance

How often should I inspect my roof?

Visual check every year, ladder check every 3–5 years, proper roofer inspection every 10. Coastal homes, more often. Full guide here.

Should I water-blast my roof?

No. Pressure can force water under sheets and damage paint. Use a soft-wash spray with a moss treatment instead.
